The area is city-centre busy, not beachfront quiet. That is the whole point of staying here.

- SKS City Mall JBCC, about 10 minutes, the newest mall in this corner of JB
- City Square and KOMTAR JBCC, about 10 minutes, side by side
- R&F Mall is further than it looks, closer to 18 minutes
- Warung Roti Canai Bukit Chagar, where locals have queued 30 years for crispy roti
- A surau, a mini mart and a 7-Eleven, all within a few minutes

Worth the longer walk
Jalan Tan Hiok Nee for Hiap Joo Bakery and its wood-fired banana cake, baked since 1919. The old kopitiams along Jalan Wong Ah Fook.

You will not need a car to eat well here.

We are one of the closest condos to the Causeway. Honest walking times, taken from the real route rather than guessed.

To Singapore
- CIQ checkpoint: about 500m, a 7 minute walk, no taxi needed
- From CIQ, bus across the Causeway or walk over to Woodlands
- JB Sentral is about 7 minutes. The KTM Shuttle Tebrau reaches Woodlands in 5 minutes for RM5
- The Bukit Chagar RTS station is going up 3 minutes from our door, due early 2027

The CIQ walk follows a road built for cars and crosses an overhead bridge. Families do it daily, but there is no dedicated footpath the whole way.

Please note: traffic around here
Staying right in the city centre is a double-edged sword. The upside is CIQ, JB Sentral and the malls are all within walking distance. The downside is the traffic. At certain times, especially Friday evenings, weekends and public holidays, the roads around the checkpoint get very heavy and slow. The RTS station being built nearby also makes the roads and the walking path busier and dustier for now.

If you are driving, please expect jams at these times and check Waze before you head out. If quiet roads matter a lot to you, a place further from the checkpoint may suit you better.
